as you can imagine my life has been nonstop.... i've only been here 10 days but i feel
like it's been years. I am having the absolute best possible time to be had. i
am so glad that i decided to move here! seriously, i have yet to meet someone i
don't like and i haven't been stressed once since i arrived.
the weather has
totally sucked lately--massive storms for the past 3 days. the river flooded and
they had to close one of the freeways. they said there were 7m swells on a 4m
river which translates to 11m from top to bottom. WOW! the wind blows like
nothing i have ever seen before-- i swear it'll blow you sideways if you're not
careful. matty and i went to the pub the other night and could barely make it
there was so much wind. it started raining this afternoon after we left the internet cafe. we walk everywhere
so by the time i got home i was drenched. oh well. at least we have a clothes dryer...
most people here don't, they have to hang it out to dry.
went to see the matrix
with my flatmates on thursday night. i really thought it sucked. don't ask me
why but i was ready to leave at half time... most of my flatmates agreed. plus we had to wait outside
the theater for like 30 minutes in the freezing cold before they'd let us in for the midnight show.
i've been busy looking
for a job. i had an interview with the West Australian (the local newspaper)
yesterday but it is for a position selling advertising space. not something i
really want to get into... however coin is coin and i'm quickly
running out of it. they said they'd get back to me this week. there is a cute flower shop that I might be able to work
at w/ my experience and then i wouldn't have to work nights.
my flatmates are
absolutely the bomb except for the fact that one of them is sweet on me and the
feelings aren't being returned. oh well. you win some you lose some. elleker, the
only girl, moves out next week and i'm a bit bummed. it's been nice having
another female around to deal with messy, messy boys. we will have to find another flatmate. it shouldnt' be that hard i'm told.
rent is really cheap only about $300 a month.
so.... i've found the
one thing i absolutely wasn't looking for.... a cute boy. we have so much in
common it is ridiculous. he calls me chicky and has that great aussie accent...
you girls know what i mean ;-) oh well. he's older which shouldn't surprise any of you...
someone who can put me in my place. we'll see how things go... it's the last
thing i expected to find, much less in only 10 days!
we hung out all weekend and went shopping for a new dvd player... we got back to his house
around 5 and he was like so you gonna stick
around and watch dvds with me on my new player? i replied, considering i don't know
how to get home and you have me kidnapped i guess i don't have a choice.
so we watched dvd's and ordered a pizza and then both of us were too tired for him
to drive me home so i just crashed there. we woke up this morning and he brought me
home around noon.
jess leaves for the
states in less than a month so i'm bummed. we've been having an absolute blast
together. i keep getting into trouble b/c i tell you guys about her and her
boyfriend which i guess no one really knows about? i dunno but he's a cutie. not
what you would expect. some of ya'll will meet him when he comes to the states
in august...
we're off on a mini holiday down south next
weekend. one of our buddies has a house in margaret river (ironic name, no?)
which is the wine area of western australia. i will be in heaven needless to
say. you guys would absolutely LOVE the wine down here. it's not all shiraz but
it's better than a lot of the stuff we drink at home.
