I use to work for an US Airline Company out of Heathrow in Baggage Services. So when clients came off their 8 hour overnight flight from the states, after sitting in a tiny seat with no leg room they found that their bags weren't there... it was me they would come and see!! And this was at 4:30AM when the first flight landed - not what you need on a Saturday morning.

Have to admit for a young 20 year old, it was too much for me (for the money being paid)... I only did it for 6 months but the experience of handling people has done wonders and it looks GREAT on my CV. If you can handle those situations you can handle anything!

There was one occasion when a guy lost all his camera equipment and he was only in the country for 24 hours to do a shoot and so that was the end of that shoot!!

There was another when a client had packed his dads ashes in his suitcase and the case was lost... it turned up 4 months later!! It was just sitting at our desk when we came into work one morning.

Of course there are always the people who had a transfer, and ran from one plane to another and it took off 15 minutes later and they expected their bags to get up on their legs to follow them!! If you just made it... what chance does you bag stand??!

All fun!! So many more stories but I have to say that seeing the back end side of how it works, I always flinch when I check in my bags!! You never know where its going!!
