i've gone and done it now!!
in what was supposed to be a lovely weekend up north in the bay of islands, i
managed to break one bone, fracture another and tear 3 ligaments in my foot. oh yes, i'm in a cast and on crutches! i'm
such a klutz!!!
and no i wasn't drunk...... LOL.
i went up to paihia last friday to get out of the city for the weekend. the weather in
auckland has absolutely sucked and i wasn't about to spend any more time here. plus
considering i get completely free travel thru out nz, why the hell not.
so i get up to paihia and check into the hostel. get this... i get it for FREE! yup, benefit of working for stray. you know what else i got free? EVERYTHING. i didn't pay for any drinks, food or
accommodation for the entire weekend. i even got to go and do activities for free.
and that's how i broke my foot. well i was out water-skiing with my boss and a couple mates and having a swell time. then i
took the biggest tumble of my life, did cartwheels over the water and landed upside down and completely disoriented. my foot
hurt, but no biggie. had to be pulled into the boat as i couldn't put any pressure on it. figured i sprained it.
this was on sunday. monday the entire foot was black. still didn't think i broke it, even though i couldn't even walk.
finally went to the hospital on tuesday, they took some x-rays and yelled at me for taking so long to get there! ha.
so yup, now i've gone and broke my foot and will be in a cast for 4 wks and then a moon boot for 2. i can't get around on my
own and have to ask everyone for help. i'm not liking this. i'm too independent to ask for help.
this maybe a good thing tho as it was probably time for me to slow down. i've been partying it up hard for the past year and
maybe this was a sign to quit. who knows...
