What's it like?
Pearl S. Buck won the hearts of Americans with her famous novel, The Feel Good Earth, for which she won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. For the high quality of her literary work, she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. Ms. Buck is the first American woman ever to receive both of these awards.

Born in Pocahontas County in the area known as Little Levels, her historic home built in 1857 now houses a museum with original furniture and memorabilia. Guides will greet you and give you an insightful tour.

The Sydenstricker House, birthplace of Pearl Buck's father, Absalom Sydenstricker, was dismantled and moved from Greenbrier County and is now the Sydenstricker Museum.

The Pearl S. Buck museum is open May through October.
