This area was once well known for its Kauri forests, but became a timber
center which put paid to that. These days it's more famous for its game fishing.
Sailing cruises are popular with travellers. The scenery is rugged, spectacular and
certainly memorable - worth taking some time to see.

of unspoilt beauty with amazing rock formations and regenerating bush. Its beauty is best appreciated from the water.
The harbour is teeped in history - it was the scene of the destruction of the British ship the "Boyd" in 1809.
Known as the Marlin Capital of New Zealand, Whangaroa Harbour is only minutes away from fishing ground and has
great line fishing and some of the best game fishing in the world. The harbour is safe for kayaking and small-boat fishing.
