Review of Waitangi New Zealand WAITANGI
Calling Code: +64 9

Waitangi is among one of the earliest sites of permanent European settlements in New Zealand. The Waitangi Treaty grounds is the location of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi between the Maori Chiefs and the British Crown in 1840.

Points of interest include the largest Maori war canoes in the world, the historic Treaty House, a carved Maori meeting house, audiovisual displays, guided tours and cultural experiences. Commemorations are held at Waitangi to mark to the Treaty of Waitangi every 6 February.

Nearby is Mount Bledisloe offering unparalleled views of the Bay of Islands. The beautiful park-like grounds are also home to a cafe, hotel and 18 hold golf course.
