The Waipoua Kauri Forest contains 75% of New Zealand's
remaining kauri trees, including the largest living kauri, Tane
Mahuta. Several of the giant native trees are only a short
walk from the road. Another magnificent pocket of kauri can be
found 17kms south at Trounson Kauri Reserve.
