Fitzroy Crossing is the ideal base from which
to explore Geikie Gorge, a natural attraction that has been deeply
cut by the Fitzroy River as it travels through the limestone formation
of the Oscar and Geikie Ranges.
The area forms part of an ancient
coral reef and boat cruises allow you to view the spectacle of
the area with its sheer yellow, orange and gray gorge walls. You
may even spot freshwater crocodiles, stingrays, sawfish and even
sharks, far from the ocean their lineage inhabited millions of
years ago.
