Name: Purnululu National Park
City, State: The Kimberley, Western Australia

What's it like?
Over the last 20 million yeas, constant erosion and river movements have formed huge black and orange striped domes, which make an astonishing site from the ground or air. The stripes are a result of a thin layer of silica and cyanobacteria, protecting the soft white sandstone formations of the domes.

These domes can be seen by either taking a scenic flight over the area or driving into the National Park via an unsealed access road. The 4WD only access road is 55km in length and takes approximately 3 hours to travel after turning off the Great Northern Highway.
