Under the colorful direction of Franco Dragone, the mind behind many
of Las Vegas' most extraordinary shows, comes the newest evocation of his creative
might, Le Reve. Designed to be a walk through the characters dreams, the show
is at times a dark and menacing spectacle, and at others, a gripping manifestation
of pure elation.
"This is something I've dreamed of for a long time," says Franco Dragone. "Le Reve is about us, about a world that's imperfect, but beautiful in its imperfection. Even in a dream, it's impossible to be completely happy. But we can feel healed. That is part of what dreams do. And it is, I hope, part of what Le Reve does too," says Dragone.
The Wynn Theater is styled in-the-round, with no seat more than 42 feet from the
watery stage. Because of this, the audience is pulled into the production and
completely immersed in Dragone's world. Nearly 175 technicians and other staff
are needed to support the 68 performers in the show. THe stage is actually a pool,
filled with one million gallons of water and is 27 feet deep in the middle. The
performers are so close that their facial expressions are visible. This aspect
is very powerful, as characters in the rival Cirque du Soleil shows wear makeup,
inhibiting this aspect of their performance.
