Name: Alexander Palace
City: Tsarskoe Selo, Russia
What's it like? If the walls of Alexander Place could talk, they would tell
the poignant story of Russia's last czars. Commissioned by Catherine the Great
in 1792 as a gift for her grandson Alexander I, the palace witnessed the private
lives of generations of Romanovs - including Czar Nicholas II and his family,
who lived out their final days under house arrest in the palace until they were
exiled and killed during the Russian Revolution.
