Thirsty US tourists started coming here back in Prohibition days in search of booze and night life. It's easy to get to -- you can hop on a trolley in San Diego and be there in 15 or 20 minutes.
The main street or avenida is usually jammed with tourists from both sides of the border. They're shopping, bar-hopping or snapping photos of the city's famous "zebras". Well, they're really donkeys painted with stripes.
