SUNSHINE COAST
Calling Code: +61 (0)7
The Sunshine Coast is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most
beautiful regions with amazing beaches, beautiful sunlight,
picturesque hinterland and plenty of breathtaking views. The
Sunshine Coast offers a wonderful and immense mix of
culture, cuisine, nature and outdoor activities ready to be
explored.
A 30 minute drive west up the Blackall Ranges and you are in the Sunshine
Coast hinterland. Often the climb affords both spectacular coastal views to
the east, and to the west the imposing silhouettes of the dormant volcanic Glass
House Mountains. It covers the region from Caloundra with its
seaside-town atmosphere in the south, to
cool and fashionable Noosa in the north,
and from the beaches shaped by the Pacific
Ocean in the east, to far into the rural
English-like idyll beyond the Blackall Range
in the west.
Dairy cattle graze on rolling green hills and the temperature
drops a degree or two. The villages of Montville and Maleny
are sleepy hamlets where a culture of coffee houses, country pubs, cosy restaurants,
and craft studios thrive. Bed and Breakfast guest-houses such as Maleny Manor,
Bendles Cottages and rainforest treehouses Witta Gums are the ultimate in local
accommodation.
