What were the accommodations like?
Okay, I first started hanging out here when I was still living in
Fremantle. The two guys
behind the bar, Jay and Sam, were really cool so I'd head down there in the afternoon to have a beer...
When I got back from Broome I didn't have anywhere to stay so naturally I checked in here.
The rooms were great - I was in two different ones, both on the front of the hostel with a balcony
we could look out. The first room was with 6 girls and they didn't talk much but my next room
was with 9 guys so we got along pretty well. Sundancers hostel is huge - they have over 100 beds - as
it is in a newly renovated heritage building. This means everything inside is fairly new as well.
They say they place is so new it's not in any of the guide books yet... that could be a good thing!
There is a HUGE kitchen and back patio with a hot tub. They also have 24 internet access that
you pay for in advance but it's only like $4/hr. The beers are cheap in this
youth hostel and the location is great...
I checked out a few of the other Fremantle hostels and wasn't that impressed. The room rates
are really low, especially if you have a Nomads, so there's really no reason not to stay here unless
you're the type that needs sleep.
There is always something going on downstairs at the bar or on the pool tables,
until at least midnight at which point everyone, including
the staff heads down to Zanzibar or one of the local pubs/clubs.
