SOUTH BURNETT
Calling Code: +61
Famous for its peanuts, and the corn the region grows for sale to
breakfast cereal processing companies, also now making a name for itself in wine
circles, Queensland's South Burnett offers a true country experience.
Only a one hour drive from the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast and just over two hours drive from Brisbane, the South Burnett is an area rich in history, agriculture, wineries and welcoming country towns.
The South Burnett is at its busiest at weekends, with motorists heading into the region to sample a few days of country hospitality. That of course means that mid-week it's like having the country experience without the crowds, giving the visitor much more time to mix it with the locals.
At least two nights should be set aside if seeking a country experience, and longer if possible.
If there's a place you've stayed or something you've done, but we haven't listed, review it for us!
