Describe your experience:
Simply Fondue is a major indulgence... I left here seriously busting out of my pants and wanting nothing
more than to take a nap. But this Dallas restaurant is SO good that it's worth the pain...
So where do I start... well it's a four-coure meal that will take you a while to get thru but is a definite blast
when you are amongst friends. Grab a bottle of wine, get ready to chat and have some fun. The premise of fondue is that
you cook something in a pot of other stuff and then use these really long sharp forks to eat it... you can even use sauces!
No seriously, the first course is a salad. I had the House with Raspberry Vinagrette and it was just perfect before the large
amounts of food I was getting ready to eat. It was like a great tasting wake up call for my stomach to get ready to party. Then
we had a Swiss cheese fondue. Here, they melt cheese in a double boiler pan and you dip bread in the cheese with your long fondue forks.
Hmmmm... SO GOOD. Add a little Kirsch to the mix and you are ready to rock and roll.
The next course was a delectable plate of steak tenderloin, chicken, prawns, scallops, mushrooms and stuffed jalapenos - hey this is
Dallas!!
Well in this course you cook your meats in a pot of boiling oil. You see this meal is very communal as you will all sit around the pot of
boiling oil - don't touch it's HOT - and feast together. We had 4 sauces to choose from:
tarragon soy, sweet ginger, honey mustard with dill,
and horseradish. We were also given 2 different types of tempura that we could dip the meats into first if we wanted. Finally, there were
mushrooms that we stuffed with cream cheese and chives, dipped in the batter and fried. SO YUMMY.
Alright, so are you busting at the seams yet? We sure were. It's not over tho. Not by a long shot. Simply Fondue isn't gonna let
you give up this easy!! So just when you think you
can't take anymore, out comes a beautiful double boiler pan of chocolate. That's right. Pure melted milk chocolate. It's makes my mouth
water to think about it. Well, accompanying this delight is a plate of granny smith apples (also served with the cheese course), cherries,
strawberries, bananas, angel food cake, and marshmallows. Seriously, how can you turn that down???
After this horrible :-) event, your waitress brings you your check. She understands that you can't even move, that's why she's giving
you plenty of time to get it all taken care of. 'Coz trust me, you're not gonna want to move or eat (or even think about eating) for like
4 days after this meal. But, oh it's oh so worth it!!
If you know of a great restaurant we're missing,
review it for us!!
