Gems include sapphire, ruby, cats eye, alexandrite, topaz, amethyst, aquamarine,
tourmaline, garnet and zircon. Visits to gem mines can be arranged through travel
agents. Gem collections can be seen at the National Museum, Ratnapura, and a number
of private museums.
