Review of Paparoa National Park New Zealand PAPAROA NATIONAL PARK
Calling Code: +64 3

At 30,000 hectares in size, the Paparoa National Park is home to one of the West Coast's most interesting sites, the amazing Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki. These are a series of eroded limestone rocks moulded by the nurturing hands of Mother Nature into what appears to be a giant stack of pancakes. Nearby are an angry mob of blowholes which periodically spew forth great waves of water.

The Croesus Track offers trekkers a challenging and scenic expedition but a longer walk is the Inland Pack Track which runs for some 25km through rugged, unfriendly terrain.

Paparoa lies inland off Hwy 6 between Westport and Greymouth. A regular bus service is provided to the area by Intercity and tours are available from Greymouth.
