Name: Pacific Coast Highway
Location: West Coast United States

What's it like?
Starting in downtown LA and winding its way up through California, Oregon and Washington State for some 1,800 miles, America's Pacific Coast Highway is one of the most famous roads on the planet.

Made up of US Highway 101 (or just 'the 101' to the locals) and California State Highway 1, this hallowed stretch of tarmac rolls through many a celebrated name on the US map (Malibu, Santa Barbara, San Jose and San Francisco to name just a few) on its way to the end of the line at Olympia, just south of Seattle in Washington State.

Nor is it an unvaried drive - the golden beaches of California give way to steep cliffs as the road hits Oregon, while the forests of Washington State give the northern section a certain spooky feel.
