Review of international travel to Federated States of Micronesia
The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is the largest and most populous political entity to emerge from the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. It includes all of the Caroline Islands, except for the Republic of Palau. Micronesia is the divers paradise, and much more. The land, though small in area, is tremendously varied - there are high volcanic islands and flat sandy atolls.

These far-flung islands host a great diversity of cultures as well. There are plenty of things to enjoy in Micronesia, but if you don't love the ocean, this is the wrong destination for you.

Eight different languages are spoken in the FSM - Chuukese, Kosraean, Kapingamarangi, Nukuoran, Pohnpeian, Ulithian, Woleaian, and Yapese. Many are totally dissimilar, making English the common language for interisland communications. Traditionally, most of the societies have been matrilineal, although the influence of missionaries has created a patrilineal system on Kosrae.

International flights go to the state capitals Pohnpei, Kosrae, Chuuk and Yap.
