CLARKSDALE
Calling Code: +1
Home to the Delta Blues Museum, Clarksdale will quickly feel like
home to you. Set right in the heart of the Delta, Clarksdale capitalizes on its
quaint, small town charm in a big way. It's the kind of place you will come back
to time and time again - even if only in your memories.
Clarksdale is Blues to the bone, with the legacies of WC Handy, Robert Johnson,
Charley Patton, and so many others living in its local clubs. Visit historic Blues
Alley and the Delta Blues Museum, dedicated to the preservation and interpretation
of the music. See the instruments of BB King and Sonny Boy Williams II, and the
log cabin home of Muddy Waters.
Visit Hopson Plantation, one of the largest cotton farming operations in the South
in its day and the region's first producer of cotton crop entirely by machinery-planting
to bailing. See plantation memorabilia in the museum that once was the commissary.
You can even stay in of the former tenant houses, cleverly restored as the eclectic
Shack Up Inn. If you prefer elegance, choose a historic hotel or bed and breakfast.
If there's a place you've stayed or something you've done, but we haven't listed, review it for us!
