Review of Mangonui New Zealand MANGONUI
Calling Code: +64 9

Once a bustling whaling and trading port, this scenic historic village is home to some truly exquisite heritage buildings today housing mainly hotels, retail shops, arts and crafts, and cafes. There are numerous waterfront cafes with alfresco dining, the historic hotel and the world famous fish and chip shop.

Mangonui wharf is an interesting place to observe the commercial fishing boats off loading their catch or to try your hand yourself at hooking a fish.

Around the corner from Mangonui Village is Mill Bay, a painters dream with its backdrop of the dominating Rangikapiti Pa, its yachts, and other craft. A visit to the Pa site will reward you with a panoramic view overlooking the harbour on one side and the whole of Doubtless Bay on the other.

Quick tips/suggestions
There is a local information centre, stationers with postal services, a garage with marine service, several real estate agents and internet facilities.
