Review of Lisbon Portugal LISBON
Calling Code: +351

Situated on the westernmost point of continental Europe, Lisbon is the capital, largest city, chief port, and political, commercial and tourist hub of Portugal.

Lisbon occupies the north bank of the Tagus River (Rio Tejo), which is straight and about 2 miles wide from its entrance into the Atlantic Ocean along the eight miles upstream to the city. On the city's west side, the Tagus is spanned by the longest suspension bridge in western Europe, the 25th of April Bridge (3,323 feet). Just east of the bridge, the Tagus widens into the spectacular Sea of Straw (Mar de Palha), a seven-mile-wide bay. Consequently, Lisbon is famous as a natural harbor both beautiful and strategically positioned.

It is a popular cruise port and a very busy commercial port, handling a large percentage of Portugal's and Spain's imports & exports.
