Review of travel to Kolkata India KOLKATA
Calling Code: +91

Sprawling across 72 square miles along the Hooghly River in East India, Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the country's second largest city and ranks among the largest cities in the world. Kolkata serves as the major seaport and industrial center for East India and is the capital of West Bengal state.

One of the best ways to experience this city is to walk through the teeming streets lined with crumbling, enchanting Raj architecture and soak up the culture. Acknowledged as India's cultural capital, Kolkata is a city with large pockets of dire poverty, but it also boasts a vibrant intellectual community, excellent Bengali cuisine and a flourishing art scene.
