Review of international travel to India

   The Republic of India is the second most populous country in the world (after China), with over one billion people living within its borders. India occupies 1,261,810 square miles in the Asian subcontinent. India is bordered by Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar, and is flanked by the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west.

India is a land of impressive cultural diversity: more than 1,500 languages and dialects are spoken, and religions include Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Buddhists. India's major industries are textiles, steel, food processing, chemicals, cement, petroleum, mining, transportation equipment and agricultural industries, including rice, wheat, jute, tea, cotton, oilseed, sugar cane, cattle, sheep, poultry and fish.
