Ten minutes north of Wellington, Hutt City incorporates the areas
of Lower Hutt, Petone, Eastbourne, and Wainuiomata.
Lower Hutt has the Dowse Museum with contemporary arts and crafts.
Petone was the first town in the Wellington region and has may
original Victorian and Edwardian buildings, cafes and ethnic restaurants
as well as the Petone Settlers Museum. Eastbourne is a charming
seaside village with a swimming beach. It can be reached by road
or ferry from Queens Wharf in Wellington.
