Review of international travel to Guyana

Guyana faces the Atlantic Ocean in northeastern South America. The coastal plain is flat and mainly below sea level; dykes prevent flooding. Inland is a hilly region which rises to the Pakaraima Mountains, part of the Guinea Highlands, in the west. Other highlands are in the south. Guyana has seven grand waterfalls, including the King George VI Falls (488m/1601ft).

The climate is hot and humid, although temperatures are lower in the highlands in the west and south. The rainfall is heavy, occurring on more than 200 days a year.
