FRASER COAST
Calling Code: +61
The Fraser coast region stretches from
Gympie in the south to Bundaberg in the
north; and from the beautiful Fraser Island
just off the coast to the east to Mount
Walsh National Park in the west.
The iconic Fraser Island is the world's largest
sand island and a place of incredible natural beauty. Visitors can choose to four-wheel
drive, camp or sign up for one of the many guided tours which showcase the island's
hotspots.
The warm waters of Hervey Bay also play host to pods
of humpback whales, who each spend a few days "R&R" in the bay from late July
to November before heading south
again. Visitors to the region can get up close and personal with these giants
mammals of the sea with an aerial tour, or on one of the many morning, afternoon
or full day whale watching boat cruises, which depart Urangan Boat Harbour daily.
Located at the southern tip of the Great Barrier
Reef, Lady Elliot Island is only a short
flight from Hervey Bay. Stay five nights and pay for four, or stay seven nights
and pay for five at the exclusive island resort until 14 December, 2006.
In nearby Maryborough, the Great Sandy Strait Marina
Resort in Hervey Bay and Kimba Lodge (a half hour drive south of Hervey Bay) are
also offering great accommodation deals.
The warm and mild climate
means that the Fraser Coast is perfect to
explore all year around. Enjoy!
