What's it like?
Nestled in 13 wooded acres, one block south of downtown
Dallas, Old City Park provides visitors of all ages a glimpse
into the living history of North Texas.
Old City Park is composed of 38 historic structures and boasts a working farm, elegant Victorian homes, a school, a church and turn-of-the-last-century
commercial buildings.
Their mission is to preserve representative structures, artifacts
and other historical materials related to the history of Dallas
and North Central Texas between 1840-1910. Upon entering the Village,
visitors are immersed in an experience like no other in North
Texas. As a time traveler, you can interact with costumed interpreters
portraying fictional characters based on the demographics of North
Texas during the mid 19th and early 20th centuries. These composite
characters represent the the complex social, political, ethnic
and religious backgrounds of many of the area's residents.
The living history characters recreate a typical day in early
dallas. It is always today's day and month, but always their year
in the past - they have no knowledge of anything more recent than
their year.
If you know of a great destination we're missing,
