Name: Courthouse Markets
Address: Cnr. Frederick St. & Hammersley St.
City: Broome, Western Australia
Type of Merchandise: Everything
What's it like?
The markets are held every Saturday morning, at the Broome Courthouse which
was once a Cable Station that served as the telephone cable from Broome to Perth, and northwards
through a submarine cable to Java in the Dutch East Indies. That said,
the Courthouse Markets are your typical flea markets. I
wasn't that impressed with the breadth of goods but it was a good morning activity. It's worth
noting that during the Dry, they hold the markets on Sunday morning as well.
This is definitely a tourist attraction and most of the things you can buy here
you can find in the shops during the week and the prices aren't that much better.
There are lots of homemade crafts and clothing.
It's definitely worth a look...
If you know of some great markets or festivals we're missing,
review it for us!!
