Is this Central American national the eco-tourism
capital of the world? If it's going for a title shot then any competitors are in trouble - because if it's outdoors, sensitive
to the wilderness, and exciting, you can do it in Costa Rica. Get involver in a volunteer project, visit the cloud forests, bliss
out on a beach - any kind of sun-kissed activity is available.
A major reason for all this is that the national parks system
is so well developed, and large tracts of Costa Rive have been
protected and maintained for years. The Parque Nacional Santa
Rosa is a great example, covering the far north-west and protecting
the vast forests and immense numbers of wildlife.
You don't even have to trudge around in the wilderness. Monteverde
Reserve near Santa Elena was walking trails strung up across the
treetops, and flying foxes for an even zippier ride. If you're
truly slack then there is a chair-lift to give you a decent view.
Here's the hot tip: check the map and you'll see that Costa Rica is mainly beach. Pack the board, head to Pavones, and heave something
to really tell the crew back home. Tubular...
