Head to Shanghai, China's principal seaport and walk the Bund, the famous road
along the river, visit the famous Yu Yan Gardens built during the Ming Dynasty
and savor this sophisticated city that has managed to retain a touch of old Europe
in its streets and buildings.
Further inland, in Xian, visit the Museum of Qin Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses
which houses one of the world's greatest discoveries unearthed in the late 1970s
and now under UNESCO's World Heritage protection. This amazing find includes seven
thousand life sized clay soldiers and horses standing in battle formation along
with two bronze chariots.
Take a cruise along the mythical Yangtze River, the longest river in Asia and
the third largest in the world. A cruise along the river through the scenic Three
Gorges provides glimpses of old China including hills covered with rice fields
and fishermen on the shores.
