Review of Childers Australia CHILDERS
Calling Code: +61 7

In Childers, just south of Bundaberg, the streetscape greets you grandly with beautiful old timber buildings, wide verandas, tin rooves and old leopard trees waving in the breeze.

While in town it is worth checking out the intriguing Military Museum which has 22,000 items on display. The collection includes items from the first landing of European settlers to present day.

One of the most moving places in town is the Childers Backpacker Memorial & Art Gallery which was destroyed by fire on 23 June, 2000, taking with it 15 young lives. An art gallery and memorial now exist behind the facade of the building gutted by fire.

Packed full of history, food and wonderful attractions, Childers and its surrounds is a great day trip from Bundaberg.
