Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, is a multicultural port city heavily influenced
by its European population.
Divided into 48 barrios, or neighborhoods, the Capital Federal district (popular with tourists) houses 3 million of the more than
12 million residents in the most populous city in the country. Along the eastern edge of the city runs the Rio de la Plata, a gulf (
or very wide river) jutting in from the Atlantic Ocean.
Although the city doesnt have a definite focal point, the towering Obelisk situated amidst the Avenida 9 de Julio is a possibility.
With 16 lanes at its widest point, this congested avenue is the largest in the world.
