Review of travel to Brisbane Australia

With the atmosphere of a city and the laid back nature of a country town, Brisbane is a big small town. The people, over a million of them, are cruisy and friendly. The city is well known for its parks and gardens, which thrive in the subtropical climate.

Make sure to check out Southbank, the old 1988 World Expo site which has been redeveloped into an urban park suffering from schizophrenia; at the southern end of the park it's an Australian theme, which then becomes distinctly Mediterranean near the artificial beach, which then becomes an Amazonian rainforest before becoming a city library and performance centre.

This is the place to stop over if you're wanting to experience a few big city things - you can even get a free tour of the XXXX Brewery. There's a good list of "What's Happening" in Saturday's Courier Mail. Try Paddington if you want a trendy place to go out with lot of places to eat or head into Fortitude Valley where Brisbane goes off at night.
