BOSTON
Calling Code: +1
When you first encounter Boston, you'll likely be struck by its beauty. It certainly won't disappoint the die-hard tourist looking for historic buildings, museums and cultural sites.
But along with the skyscrapers and ornate architecture, you'll find plenty of breathing room and green space. Centuries ago, planners made sure that visitors to the birthplace of the American Revolution wouldn't have to stroll through city streets for long before stepping into a park or garden.
Best Way to Get Around
With all the construction at the airport, not to mention the city's infamous traffic problems, you're better off going with public transportation than renting a car. The subway, known as the "T," is the best way to get around. The four subway lines cost $1.25 per trip to most places and will take you to the major museum, shopping and office areas. The rides are usually quick, clean and safe. If you're planning to hit several tourist sights, get a visitor's pass that allows for unlimited travel on the subways, local buses and inner harbor ferries. A one-day pass is $7.50, and a three-day pass is $18. You can buy them from token booths at subway stations.
