The Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of the five republics to emerge from the former Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.
The River Sava, which forms most of the northern border with Croatia,
is a tributary of the River Danube. Because of the country's odd shape, the coastline
is limited to a short stretch of 20km (13mi) on the Adriatic coast.
