The Kimberley region of Western Australia is one of the world's last great wilderness areas, covering an
expanse of nearly 423,00 sqkm. With an estimated resident population of approximately 30,000, it has one of the fastest population growth rates in Australia, yet has fewer people per sqkm than almost any other place on earth.
Situated in the far north west of Western Australia, the Kimerbley is an ancient landform of rugged ranges with deep, spectacular gorges and pristine sandy beaches that fringe the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Mighty river systems produce thundering waterfalls during the wet season and pockets of lush rainforest can be found throuughout the region. There are arid desert areas and vast open plains, complex cave systems and ancient Boab trees.
An astonishing variety of wildlife is found in the Kimberley. It is home to huge turtles, predatory saltwater crocodiles and the smaller freshwater crocodile, wallabies, kangaroos, bandicoots, possums and much more.
White bellied sea eagles, blacke kites, herons, pelicans, the beautiful red-winged parrot and the graceful brolga are just some of the species of prolific birdlife to be observed.
Floral treasures abound, and the Kimberley supports a diverse and spectacular range of more than 2000 plant species. Pindan wattle, Kimberley heath, te blue water lily, pandanus and fan plams are just some of the many delights waiting to be seen throughout the region.
Mother Nature rules in this rugged landscape. Remote and beautiful, it is accessible to those who choose to explore it with a sense of adventure. You can not rush through the Kimberley becuase there is simply too much to see and do. By cutting short your visit you will miss many of its amazing features and you will nver forgive yourself!

Bungle Bungles is massif is one of WA's greatest natural wonders, carefully
protected by minimal development.
