Review of international travel to Australia

The Land Down Under... what an amazing place it is... Travel to Australia is something some people only dream about. This island continent is the sixth largest country in the world. It's about the same size as the 48 mainland states of the USA and 50 per cent larger than Europe, but has the lowest population density in the world - only two people per square kilometre.

Here are some suggested itineraries for travel to Australia:
Two Days
Spend a day in Helsinki visiting the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and the Mannerheim Museum. Take your time to stroll along Pohjoiseplanadi to Market Square and enjoy the outdoor markets. If it's a sunny day, take the ferry across to the island fortress of Suomenlinna. Spend day two in the medieval town of Porvoo.

One Week
Buy a Helsinki Card and spend two days exploring Helsinki. Then jump on the train to Turku, Finland's former capital and oldest town. From there you can visit the Lakeland via Tampere, Kuopio, Savonlinna and Lappeenranta, stopping in Porvoo on your way back to Helsinki.

Two Weeks
You can easily cover the one week route and add the Åland islands. After returning to the mainland, head to Lapland via Tampere, then down to Lakeland in eastern Finland.

These are just suggested itineraries... feel free to make your own and get off the beaten path!
