Just north of Queenstown, Arrowtown, a small town with a population of barely 1600, was once a
thriving gold mining
settlement. Age has wearied Arrowtown, but it is experience a revival as a tourist town, and these days
there's plenty of shopping to be done.
Bush Creek, the base for many of the Chinese gold diggers, is worth a visit. So too is
Macetown, where you will see the deserted skeletons of a once prosperous and thriving community. If gold fever has finally
caught up with you, then try your luck panning
and searching for glory in the murky waters of the Arrow River.
