Review of travel to Agra India AGRA
Calling Code: +91

The city of Agra, about 125 miles from Delhi, was established on the Yamuna River in 1566 by the great Mughal emperor Akbar. Although it is known as a thriving commercial center and transportation junction, Agra is probably most often remembered for its most famous monument, the Taj Mahal. This magnificent mausoleum was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan after the death of his beloved second wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

The structure, completed in 1638, was designed by Muslim architect Ustad Ahmad and, set in its breathtaking complex of gardens and gateways (completed in 1643), represents the gardens of Paradise to which the Muslim faithful ascend.
