Review of Agnes Water Australia AGNES WATER
Calling Code: +61 7

Agnes Water provides the northern most surf beach on Australia's east coast; a pristine beach which has been such a well guarded secret for so long.

This wonderful stretch of Queensland's coastline was chronicled by one James Cook back in 1770, hence the name given to the neighbouring settlement of The Town of 1770.

Agnes Water now rates highly with the 'empty nesters' who, since discovering it, have adopted it as their favourite holiday destination.

Using Agnes Water as a base there's heaps of soft adventure ahead: cruises out to the Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling or scuba diving, through to 4-wheel-driving, and trail biking or canoeing tours through the national parks. There's even a recommendation to make a journey to the Bustard Head lighthouse on an amphibious vehicle.

Or perhaps just go fishing. Fishing at Agnes Water comes in a variety of modes. One option is to join Silver Dolphin Charters for overnight offshore reef fishing in the beautiful Capricorn or Bunker group of islands. Trips require a minimum of ten persons and two days per booking. A reduced daily rate applies for bookings of three or more days.

There's plenty of accommodation, although it is always advisable to plan ahead and make reservations prior to arrival, including luxury accommodation at Pacific Crest.

The Hideaway is a multi award winning retreat. It's nestled on 45 acres of Aussie bushland with resident kangaroos, pretty face wallabies and an abundance of birdlife.

Agnes Water's Mango Tree Motel offers three-star self contained units, and has a licensed restaurant.

And, for caravanners, the Agnes Water Caravan Park has absolute beach frontage, and that is just about as close as you can camp without getting wet. It features modern self contained ensuite cabin units, camping sites, and powered sites.
