Review of travel to Zurich Switzerland

   Zurich is one of 171 political communes making up the canton. It is administered by the City Board and the City Council. Both bodies are elected by the citizens every four years.

In 15 B.C. Roman customs posted on the Lindenhof. Zrich has been described as a town since 10th century A.D. In 1336 Rudolf Brun's Guild Constitution was passed and by 1351, Zurich had joined the Swiss Confederation. Increasing importance, especially since mayoralty of Hans Waldmann (end of 15th century). 1523 beginning of Reformation by Huldrych Zwingli. 19th century, during lifetime of Alfred Escher (died 1882), development into Switzerland's leading commercial and economic centre (machine and textile industries, banking, insurance and tourism).
