Camping Resources

Here are some of our favorite campsites in the United States:

California
Curry Village, Yosemite National Park
Yes it's crowded. And yes there's a reason: rustic tent cabins (equipped with bathrooms and running water) in the shadow of Half Dome and other majestic monuments around the famous park.

Kirk Creek Campground, Los Padres National Forest
A stunning campsite perched on a 100ft bluff overlooking the craggy coastline of Big Sur. The setting is so picture-perfect it's the stuff of postcards.

Colorado
Colorado River State Park, Clifton
Fishing, sightseeing, picnic spots, and public swimming. In the winter - the campground is open all year round - eagles swoop through the skies.

Illinois
Coon Creek Campground, Lake Shelbyville
Perfect for romantic getaways or family vacation. Take a walk along the water, a boat to a secluded cove, or play in the shallows with the entire clan.

Massachusetts
Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth and Carver
Five camping areas tucked into a forest that's dotted with pristine kettle ponds. Hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding trails complete the picture.

Michigan
Brevort Lake Campground, Moran
Heavily wooded campgrounds, all with easy access to the lake. Flush toilets and a camp store nearby.

New York
Chittenango Falls State Park, Cazenovia
A towering waterfall - it's 167ft high - is the central feature of this restful campground. Hide high in the shadows of the cascade by day: fall asleep to its rhythm by night.

Vermont
Winhall Brook Campground, Jamaica
More than 100 campsites tucked along a beautiful brook in the Green Mountains. You'll see other campers around, but it still feels like a rural escape.

Virginia
Salthouse Branch, Henry, on Philpott Lake
Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it offers camping on an undeveloped island. Wake in the morning to watch the fog lift from the lake.

Utah
Devil's Garden Campground, in Arches National Park
A starkly beautiful setting 5200 feet above sea level and ring by jagged rock outcrops with sweeping mountain views. Keep food in closed containers - foxes, deer, and ravens abound.
