New Zealand Diving Information
Diving in New Zealand varies greatly from destination to destination. Your best bet is to head up north to Paihia and check out the Rainbow Warrior, the Greenpeace ship sunk by the French in the late 1980s. For more detailed information on dive sites in NZ, have a look at the Dive New Zealand website at http://www.splash.co.nz
North Island
Paihia
The beautiful Bay of Islands offers something for all divers. Daily trips to the Rainbow Warrior or out to the Bay provides fascinating and superb diving.
Tutukaka
23km off the north east coast of New Zealand, the Poor Knights Islands are washed by a warm current that sweeps down from the Coral Sea. Water temperatures are warmers and visibility is clearer than anywhere else in the country. The Islands have volcanic origins that provide a myriad of spectacular drop-offs, walls, caves, arches, and tunnels.
Leigh
Home to the famous Goat Island Marine Reserve.
Tairua
Located 12 nautical miles offshore from Tairua - the leisure hub of the Coromandel - the Aldermans offer a large range of dive opportunities such as deep pinnacles, wall caves, and a vast range of shallow dives in sub-tropical waters.
Whakatane
White Island is New Zealand's only active marine volcano and is surrounded by crystal clear water.

South Island
Blenheim
Choose from the Russian Mikhail Lermontov, Long Island Marine Reserve, the Koi and Vara wrecks, Waikoropupu Springs or a cave dive all off the east coast of the South Island.
