Suggested itinerary for international travel to Finland
Finland and its capital, Helsinki, are often views as a quick stopover on the way thru to St. Petersburg, yet the country has much more to offer than that. Whatever time of year you decide to travel to Finland, there's always something happening. You can ski across vast frozen lakes or relax in a traditional Finnish sauna. You can sail and fish in the land islands or visit the many museums of Helsinki. Finland is an ideal country to visit if you enjoy the outdoors.

Here are some suggested itineraries for travel to Finland:
Two Days
Spend a day in Helsinki visitng the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and the Mannerheim Museum. Take your time to stroll along Pohjoiseplanadi to Market Square and enjoy the outdoor markets. If it's a sunny day, take the ferry across to the island fortress of Suomenlinna. Spend day two in the medieval town of Porvoo.

One Week
Buy a Helsinki Card and spend two days exploring Helsinki. Then jump on the train to Turku, Finland's former capital and oldest town. From there you can visit the Lakeland via Tampere, Kuopio, Savonlinna and Lappeenranta, stopping in Porvoo on your way back to Helsinki.

Two Weeks
You can easily cover the one week route and add the land islands. After returning to the mainland, head to Lapland via Tampere, then down to Lakeland in eastern Finland.

These are just suggested itineraries... feel free to make your own and get off the beaten path!
