Review of the history of England
England's earliest immigrants were often refugees from tribal warfare and unrest (the Belgic tribesmen escaping from imperial Rome, the Romans themselves, the Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes and Normans), who have all in turn brought genetic variety. Under Roman rule the population of the British Isles numbered about half a million. By the time of the Doomsday Census (1086) it had doubled and over the next 900 years it became and remains, one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

The British Empire was, for over 200 years, all powerful and it wasn't until the end of WWII that its strongholds began to disintegrate. In 1947 India and Pakistan became independent and by 1970 nearly most other Commonwealth countries had done the same. Today it retains its place among the world's leading nations. English culture continues to permeate global affairs, and its rich colonial history had created one of the world's most multi-cultural societies. Further integration with Europe should increase its cosmopolitan nature.
