Review of international travel to Dominican Republic
The main airport is at Santo Domingo, about 18 miles east of the city itself - international flights leave from Herrera airport in the west of the city. Most of the charter flights to the tourist resorts of the north coast will fly into Puerto Plata or Punta Cana in the east of the country. There is a departure tax in the Dominican Republic of US$10. The authorities insist that foreigners pay it in US dollars.
