Travel advice for travel to Comoros

Here's some travel advice to keep you informed and safe when it comes to travel to Comoros...

We strongly advise you not to travel to the Comoros island of Anjouan due to military action which began on 24 March 2008 following a disputed election. If you are in Anjouan, you should remain indoors in as safe a place as possible. Air and sea transport between Anjouan and the other Comoran islands has been cut.

We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to the islands of Grand Comore and Moheli due to the possible fallout from this military action against Anjouan, including possible travel difficulties and shortage of essential goods.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has confirmed cases of avian influenza in birds in a number of countries throughout the world. For a list of these countries, visit the OIE website. For information on our advice to Australians on how to reduce the risk of infection and on Australian Government precautions see our travel bulletin on avian influenza.
