Review of international travel to Bermuda
   You can't rent cars, but visitors can easily get around by taxi, bus, ferry, motor scooters, and horse and carriage. Bermudians drive on the left and the speed limit is 35km per hour.

TAXIS
Taxis are readily available at the airport. From there, average fares without tops are: to Hamilton, $25; to St. George's, $15; to South Shore hotels, $30; and to the West End (Dockyard), $45. A surcharge of 25¢ is added for each piece of luggage stored in the trunk or on the roof. Fares are 25% higher between midnight and 6:00am, and all day on Sunday and public holidays. Depending on traffic, the drive to Hamilton takes about 30 minutes, an about an hour to the West End.

Taxis can be hired by the hour. day or mile - a full day is six consecutive daylight hours. Raters are per cab for one person, up to a maximum of 6 for normal transportation and general sightseeing. Special all-inclusive, pre-sold tours vary in price per person. All taxis are metered and tariff-fixed by law. Certified "Blue Flag" taxi tour guides are available on request for touring.

BUSES
Bus passengers must have exact change in coins. Ask about bus tokens or books of bus tickets at your hotel or the Hamilton bus terminal. Bus and ferry passengers can take advantage of the very popular and convenient"Transportation Pass" available for one, three, and seven days of unlimited use on the buses and ferries. The Passes are sold at the Central Terminal, the Visitors' Service Bureau in Hamilton, and at authorized outlets.

FERRIES
Ferries are a most enjoyable way to get around - and with stunning backdrop of a beautiful coastline - a ferry schedule is a must for the pocket or purse. Available at hotel desks, all Visitor Service Bureaus or the ferry terminal at Albouy's Point in Hamilton (295-4506).
